|
|
I have an interesting problem in both xmms and beep. It occurred in an old version of xmms, and i upgraded when a new version entered portage, and that one is affected the same way. The playlist and main scrolling title list some song titles all garbled! If you go to "view file info" the ID3 info is all correct.
Let me show you a picture...
here
Anyone know what compile-time flag or something might be causing this? Annoying as hell...
TIA

I seemed to discover what the problem is. It happens in certain mp3s with ID3v2 tags. A temporary fix for mp3s that are coming up scrambled if they also have ID3v1 tags is to disable ID3v2 tags globally. I opened up Preferences -> Audio I/O Plugins tab -> MPEG Layer 1/2/3 Player -> Configure -> Title tab -> Disable ID3V2 tags.
Maybe you might want to try the MAD plugin and see if it has the same problems. I don't know what the problem could be. I had stopped using XMMS for quite a while and used Juk and AmaroK and then when I went back, I noticed that some of the tags went funny. I think perhaps I had updated the tag library since I had compiled XMMS last. Well, it still seems to happen with 1.2.10.. so.. I don't know. |

nice! except for no more id3v2... which is ok because the tag editor doesn't even support the damn things. _________________ knowledge = fv |

a permanent solution would be to re-tag all these songs - or simply *cough* downloading *cough* songs with correct tags _________________ Computer science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes. |

they're tagged correctly i am thoroughly sure. used to use the same songs under iTunes on windows. And I don't know if Rhythmbox reads ID3v2, but it reports everything correctly.
And I like ID3v2 for one reason and one reason only: longer field lengths. Most of my titles don't fit in v1.
But I really wonder what the flock is going on... _________________ knowledge = fv |
