I downloaded and installed it last night. Not long ago today, I made the entries for it for kdm. I haven't tried it out yet. I am really more curious about it than anything. I can't imagine giving up my totally customized kde for a windows gui clone, but have to see it just out of curiosity. _________________ Of course you can have my root password. I'm on Hardened! |

The snapshots look very impressive
Evn tho its a window clone its very well done, but off course thats not their own creation.
I might try it too just to rest my curiosity. _________________ linux: #232767 |

am i right that replacing SRC_URI="http://www.xpde.com/releases/${P}-20030730.tar.gz"
with the new tarball path and saving it as a new ebuild will be enough to emerge it _________________ Giay tay nam | Giay nam cao cap | Giay luoi |

I only have to reboot and select Windows XP in the grub screen to use it. |

Ive made an ebuild and tried it ... well it sux ..
see for your self.
http://ikaro.homepage.dk/xpde.jpg
actually you can just download the tarball, untar it to /opt/xpde
add it to the path and add "startxpde" to .xinitrc
you might want to link /opt/xpde - > /usr/share
works like shit .
nothing worked and looks like crap.

How can I make entries in KDM for XPDE 0.5 ? |

Well, what I did to make it work was instead of adding the startxpde thingy to initrc, I made the fallowing file:
Code: | #!/bin/bash
/usr/share/xpde/bin/startxpde |
and saved that to /etc/X11/Sessions/xpde
(pretty much copied my window maker entry in the sessions folder and changed the second line).
I think xpde is a good start and lives up to its version number. Nice 'generic style' gui that doesn't come with alot of extra bundled crap. Then again, it doesn't come with much neccisary stuff (well, depends on your definition of neccisary) either. I for one can't wait to see version 1 ^^. _________________ I wanna learn how to play the accordian trumpet... |

I tried the solution but XPDE didn't start. So I'll hope someone makes an ebuild and that it adds itself to KDM ... |
