anyone know what package kget is part of? kdenetwork?? or kdebase??
i tweaked 3.2 to my liking then i decided to unmerge kde 3.1.5....all went well except my alsa screwed up (which has been fixed)...but for some reason kget now stops working after i save a 3rd file via konqueror....ie i have to manually kill the 3/4 kget processes that have spawned and try again. but once i go to save my 3rd file via kget...it freezes up again. and so again the process has to be killed and on and on.
so, i thought a first step would be to recompile kget and see if that fixes it...except im not sure which k package it's part of. hope some1 can point me in the right direction
cheers _________________ I might not have morals...but at least I have standards |

Kdenetwork, at least in KDE 3.1.5
One thing you can do is unzip kdebase and kdenetwork and see which file contains a folder with the name kget |

ok i tried re emerging kdenetworks...then did kdebase and kdelibs for good measure....still happens...every 3rd dowload via kget becomes stuck and i have to kill the process.
for the time being i've disabled kget integration with konqueror because it was driving me nuts.
i'm not sure what else to try....hope someone has some suggestions _________________ I might not have morals...but at least I have standards |

Maybe, what you are experiencing with kget is a bug. Did you report to the KDE's development team? |

I've got the same problem with kget, but I know it was working after upgrading to 3.2
Mine stopped working sometime around Wednesday.
Any conflicting packages get updated over the last week? |

It's a software combo bug--KDE 3.2 + QT 3.3. It works fine on KDE 3.2 + QT 3.2.3. I already submitted a bug report on it to the KDE folks ( http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75429 ) |

Hi, I have this problem with KGet and others, since I upgraded KDE3.1.4 to KDE3.2.
Downloads keep freezing and won't restart, the KGet windows stops responding. Part downloads get lost on restart ...
Anyone solved this? Or alternatively found a suitable alternative download manager? _________________ Gentoo, PCLOS-pre-81a and Windows 98SE.

I am having the same issue here. Don't know if anyone remembers this or not, but years ago, with Galeon, you could choose the program to handle downloads. I always chose prozilla, running from a terminal. If that were possible with kde I would be really happy. Any ideas? _________________ Of course you can have my root password. I'm on Hardened! |

To find out, to which package a program belongs, the following way is much easier:
which kget
--> /usr/kde/3.2/bin/kget
qpkg -f /usr/kde/3.2/bin/kget
--> kde-base/kdenetwork*

I was really hoping that the 3.2.1 upgrade would fix kget as I saw one report that it had, but it is still as borked as ever.
Anyone had any sort of luck getting kget to work with 3.2.1? _________________ Stand Fast,

I've voted for an bug at bugs.kde.org, that covers this Kget little problem (ain't it little?? ). And discovered that it's duplicated, and there's a patch that remove threading from it's code... Look it here. Maybe this patch could be added to some kdenetwork-3.2.1-r1 ebuild? |

Almost forgot: there's an alternative "downloader" for KDE, it's called KMago. I'm gonna check it out, as it uses the DAMN good wget optionally... |

It might be a stupid question, but where can I disable kget? Can't find it anywhere in Konqueror settings...
@Beholders_Eye:
KMago seems to be a very outdated project. Last update was in 2001. |

To deactivate KGet's integration with Konqueror, try it as follows:
KGet --> Settings --> Configure KGet --> Advanced --> Enable Integration with Konqueror.
