I did a gentoo install the lazy way:
http://gentoo-en.vfose.ru/wiki/Install_LiveDVD_12.1_to_hard_disk_drive
I modified this type of installation to have all the packages in a unique partition.
I am happy for now. But might modify the basic kde installation for the new lx is it possible to bypass?qt installation.
Each time that I shut down there is that message:
turn off computer root tty login
Is it possible to bypass that popup message to poweroff directly from the X environment?
Thanks. _________________ Voltaire: Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien. |

Reinstall the right way.
That DVD is from 2012. It is hopelessly outdated. Practically speaking, there is no way to update it nor install any new software. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien. O' Brother. You are nowhere near installing Gentoo.
Gentoo is a set of tools to build your own Linux. You "install" does not qualify.
Gentoo is a rolling meta-distribution, you need to keep it up to date. You cannot update your "install" because it is too outdated. Updating it will require significantly more effort than installing Gentoo.
You cannot ignore the need to keep your "Gentoo" updated, there are security issues and you really cannot install any new application on an outdated system without updating it first.
Edit: Hello Doc, congrats on beating me! _________________ My Gentoo installation notes.

For now this install suits my needs and permits familiarisation with the system.
Thanks for your encouragements! _________________ Voltaire: Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien. |
