Hi,
all my disks and cdroms are scsi so obviosly I choose to boot the livecd with the option doscsi . When it scans for scsi adapters it detects my aic7xxx correctly but it continues to scan and hangs on aic7xxx_old. Is there anay way to tell it to just load the asci7xxx and skip the autodetection?

I had the same problem a while ago (but with different drivers, see bug #15164). My solution was to boot the LiveCD telling it not to detect anything. Assuming your CD-ROM is on the same controller, this makes the LiveCD unable to locate itself, at which points it drops to a prompt (within the initrd). From there, insmod /lib/[kernel]/your/driver/here.o and hit Ctrl-D to leave the prompt. The LiveCD will re-scan everything, find itself, and boot normally -- and since you specified 'noscsi', it won't probe for any other controllers.
Also, file a bug about this. The Gentoo guys like to know about probing problems. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

I just had the same problem with a Dell PowerEdge 6350. Fix worked for me too. |
