Can I access my Linux's PHILIPS SMART TV?

I have PHILIPS SMART TV (actually not so 'SMART'...),
based on Linux as you can see in this Readme file (was attached to software upgraded file).
Please advise if I can enter to this system, adding applications, or modify anything?
I mean, can I do something in order to have a real SMART TV?

Maybe ...

You would need to unpack the update, add in the things you want, like ssh and a root password hash.
Then pack it all back up in such a way to make it appear as a valid software update to the TV.
If you get it wrong, your TV may be 'bricked' - That means you need to use JTAG to reprogram it to make it work again.

The TV probably uses an ARM CPU of some sort.

Better/safer to add a Rasberry Pi or something with an Allwinner A20 CPU to your TV. When (not if) you brick it, its reload the SD card in your PC and off you go again. Thats relatively painless. I think that they all do full HDMI.

Correct. Its possible to get it into a state where it won't even upload software.
There is the same risk when you update a motherboard BIOS but many BIOSs have two copies or some fallback as updating PCs is more routine than hacking TVs.
