Hello, I am trying to solve a problem where I have some strange characters appearing in vim when I use app-vim/nerdtree on konsole in KDE.

Instead of a right-facing triangle like "▶" , I get "â¸"

I assume I am either missing a font or have some locale misconfiguration.

I have

/etc/rc.conf
Code:
unicode="YES"

locale
Code:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE=C
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

eix -I fonts -c --only-names
Code:
media-fonts/liberation-fonts
media-fonts/urw-fonts
virtual/ttf-fonts
x11-apps/mkfontscale
x11-proto/fontsproto

Thanks!
