salve a tutti,
temo che l'argomento sia già stato trattato, ma da varie ricerche qui sul forum e su google, a patto di aver cercato bene, non ho trovato niente di utile. so tuttavia che qualcuno ha postato ma senza risultati, ergo ci riprovo:
il problema è apparentemente semplice:
da quando ho installato IceWM per provarlo come alternativa a xfce4 (che usa le gtk2, tenere a mente) i font delle applicazioni basate su gtk2 (mozilla, gaim, etc etc) si vedono piccolissimi. sulle apps in gtk1 non ci sono problemi perchè ho *scoperto* su un archivio di qualche ML in rete (google docet) che bastava specificare un font nel file gtkrc.
ho trovato poi una *dritta* su un altro forum che diceva di specificare queste righe nel file .xinitrc:

ed in effetti funziona, ma il problema è che poi tutti i fonts delle applicazioni non gtk* (1 o 2) si vedono GIGANTI. non è molto bello a vedersi lo schermo prima in ipovisione e poi per ipovedenti...
basandomi sul fatto che sulle gtkrc posso specificare un font, ho immaginato che funzioni anche con i gtkrc-2. da altre ricerche più selettive su google h trovato che basta inserire questa linea:

tuttavia non funziona affatto

è quello che avevo fatto, xlyz... ma non andava...
tuttavia ho appena trovato una soluzione che non è proprio il massimo dell'eleganza e soprattutto centra davvero poco con le GTK2, ma funziona:
tra le theme che ho scaricato, quella di bluecurve aveva dei font molto piccoli, quindi ho pensato di modificare i font come li volevo io, poi mettere le istruzioni XFT che ho postato nel mio post precedente settando i dpi a 96.
a questo punto pare funzioni benone
