Woohoo! I've got my second processor on order
So what do I need to do to configure my kernel?
I know -j3, enable the SMP option (doh), and such.
What I really need information on is what power management and timeing options I need/shouldn't use.
Any tips on using portage with multiple processors (beside the above mentioned -j flag) would also be appreciated.
Thanks,
Harold |

Well, I think you referred to the makeopts flag in the /etc/make.conf file. Aside from that, the only thing I can think of (before inserting the processor) is to compile your kernel with smp support if it doesnt already have it.
I really cant think of anything else
btw, the -j think you were talking about is only in regards to the make procedure. It doesnt really effect anything after you have emerged the package, it only makes the emerging process (potentially) faster. |
