For some reason Gentoo did not automatically switch to Wintertime,so I decided to set the new time manually with hwclock (this method worked fine before). After using hwclock, the time/date was fine, but after rebooting it was suddenly 15:00 July 2003 So I tried hwclock again, but this time after rebooting its 11:30 29 october for some reason! What I did was something like this:
hwclock --set --date="10/28/03 17:00:00"
hwclock --hctosys
Well, since that didnt worked, I tried install the GnomeSystemTools, since its Time/date manager is suposed to support Gentoo. But everytime I try to set the time, it simply crashes.
Does someone know what I can do to fix this problem? I am using linux 2.6.0_beta6. /etc/localtime points to /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Amsterdam. and CLOCK is set to "local" in /etc/rc.conf
Thank you in advance. |

Set your system time with date (date MMDDhhmm) or use ntp or rdate to grab the time from a reliable stratum 2 ntp server. Then sync you hardware clock with your system time (hwclock --systohc). I have a cron job that does rdate -s sundial.columbia.edu && /sbin/hwclock --systohc once a week to keep everything on time, it's worked well so far. |
