|
|
I have installed Gentoo with the Vanilla sources and it works fine. But when I try to compile with the gentoo-sources/gaming-sources, everything compiles fine etc. But when I reboot it reboots right after it goes through the grub process. I have checked my use flags, and processor settings etc. Everything is correct, processor type, modules etc. I am using the X86 LiveCD for AthalonXP |

When you boot with your vanilla kernel, do you see a line in dmesg that says : Code: | Enabling Disabled K7/SSE Support |
If your BIOS does not turn on SSE support, then you need to run a kernel with this patch (included in newer kernels) so that -march=athlon-xp will work.
If you want to run an older kernel like gentoo-sources or gaming sources, you will need to compile the rest of the system with -march=athlon so SSE instructions will not be used.
In case you are wondering, I have an HP ze4125 laptop with this problem. |
