One of the reasons that posts are so redundant
and posts are a multiplicity of the same problem
is the poor search facility.
For example, Can you search on a phrase?
Putting something in quotes is to no avail.
If you do a search on [search instructions]
you get a list of all posts where there is an
occurance of the word [search] or the word
[instructions]. If you search on ["search instructions"]
it's still the same.
Once a search returns something the search engine
resets to the defaults.
Also, I would like to confine my search to just the
title of a post, but the search engine dives thru
all of the text for occurences.
What about case sensitivity? I have been unable
to discern any facility for this.
What about a whole words restriction? If you
search on [dvd] you get all occurences of
the string [dvd] such as "livedvd", "cd/dvd" etc.

phpBB's search is known to be useless.
Fortunately we don't have to use it: things like this work |

Thanks,
I think I can get the hang of this. The
native search reminds me of the one available
with locate/updatedb facility that comes with a basic
install. That's not very good either. |
