|
|
Since I upgraded to lxde-meta-0.5.5-r4 and lxpanel-0.7.0-r1, the command "lxpanelctl run" (also accessible via alt + f2) is not working. The only thing that happens: the lxpanel refreshes.
Still got this in my lxde-rc.xml:
Code: |
<keybind key="A-F2">
<action name="Execute">
<command>lxpanelctl run</command>
</action>
</keybind>
|
But it also does not work when I start the command from a terminal.
How can this be? |

Do you have any error message if you run from the terminal console ? _________________ Kind regards,

in that case, install strace and strace the call. _________________ Kind regards,

What version are you using? Try to update at least lxpanel to 0.8.1. |

I'm using version 0.7.0 because this is the last stable version in Gentoo.
I've already tried to switch to the unstable 0.8.1 but it crashes too.
Now I'm back to 0.7.0

I solved the problem by updating to newer version of various lxde components. Also set up a overlay for that. I am generally running unstable so I'm not sure if that's a solution for you. |

No, I did not.
The menu-cache seems to be the evil part:
Quote: | problem 2 fixed with menu-cache-0.7.0 (and newer) version. it's not in portage tree yet, so we would need to track this too |
There is only lxde-base/menu-cache-0.5.1 in the stable portage tree.
The newer version 1.0.0 is still unstable. I'm not shure what happens, if I use the newer version only on this single ebuild.
But I wonder if I am the only one with this problem. |

Until I saw this thread I didn't realize I was having the same problem. But I did.
Tried with upgrading lxde-base/menu-cache, but finally recompiling
- x11-libs/libfm-1.2.3
- lxde-base/lxpanel-0.8.1
- x11-misc/pcmanfm-1.2.3
- lxde-base/menu-cache-0.5.1
did fix it. |

Ok, these are my versions:
x11-libs/libfm-1.2.3
lxde-base/menu-cache-0.5.1
x11-misc/pcmanfm-1.2.3
lxde-base/lxpanel-0.7.0-r1
except lxpanel-0.7.0-r1 we've got the same packets.
Ok, I will give a try and compile version 0.8.1 again |

So ... rebuild is done.
Now lxpanel no more crashes :-)
But there is still no run-dialog, the screen just flickers once (this is new!). |

Now lxpanel no more crashes |
lxde-base/lxpanel-0.8.1 ?

Maybe some more recompiles are needed. I recall having had some more surprises with updating lxpanel, also solved with recompiles. But cannot recall the details |

With the last world update a few days before, the issue has fixed itself :-)
with:
lxde-base/menu-cache-1.0.0-r1
lxde-base/lxpanel-0.8.1
no more panel crash and a fine runnig "lxpanelctl run".
I'm happy. |

I'm trying lxde now, but I run into this problem too with stable lxde-meta.
I've tried unstable lxpanel also but it didn't help.
When I try to upgrade menu-cache to newest unstable version I get this block:
Code: | sudo emerge -av menu-cache

since pcmanfm requires libfm, I can't install libfm-extra |

Is lxpanelctl run command running some program like grun or gmrun? Or it has own implementation? Maybe I'm missing something. |

Code: | $ lxpanelctl
lxpanelctl - LXPanel Controller
Usage: lxpanelctl <command>
Available commands:
menu show system menu
run show run dialog
config show configuration dialog
restart restart lxpanel
exit exit lxpanel |

Thank You, it's working but after unmerge of libfm and emerge of libfm-extra (with menu-cache) pcmanfm and lxpanel still depends on libfm (esp. on libfm-gtk package)
I've tried to edit these two ebuild files to depend on libfm-extra but:
Code: | No package 'libfm-gtk' found |
while compiling of @preserved-rebuild |

No problem here: Quote: | $ equery d libfm-extra
* These packages depend on libfm-extra:
lxde-base/menu-cache-1.0.0-r1 (x11-libs/libfm-extra)
x11-libs/libfm-1.2.3-r1 (~x11-libs/libfm-extra-1.2.3) |
Quote: | $ equery d libfm
* These packages depend on libfm:
lxde-base/lxpanel-0.8.1 (>=x11-libs/libfm-1.2.0[gtk])
x11-misc/pcmanfm-1.2.3 (>=x11-libs/libfm-1.2.3[gtk(+)]) |
