postgresql problems

I just emerged Postgresql and I am having problems running the server.

It appears to be ok but it does not work, and webmin tells me not to be running.

I tried the ebuild config for the postgresql file, and it started to create the directories for the data and config in /var/lib/postgresql but when building the template1 database it crashes telling me I don't have permission in /var/lib/postgresql/data/template/1

Anyone knows how to fix that problem?

Moving to Networking and Security, as this has to do with running a database server.

Well actually the script from the portage didn't seem to work, so I configured it manually and now it's ok.

I suppose it created the directories with wrong permissions and when the postgres user tried to build the databases it crashed.
