Problem with java in Mozilla/Firebird

I have trouble resizing java-applet windows (for example, the chess rooms in games.yahoo.com). When i resize the window i just get extra empty space. It does resize in Opera and Konqueror, so i assume it is a problem with mozilla-based browsers. I tried both blackdown-jdk and sun-jdk, but both give the same problem. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
