I have a few dvd's that can't been viewed in Xine or Mplayer but do work under Ogle. They are all made by "Alpha Video".
Under Xine, the FBI warning appears and then a dialog box shows up saying: | Code: | The source can't be read
Maybe you don't have enough rights for this, or source doesn't
contain data (e.g. not disc in drive). (Error reading NAV packet). |
If I started Xine from a console window then it also shows the following text: | Code: | *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in nav_read.c:217 ***

I am able to view the content of these dvd's in Xine if I first copy them to my hard drive using dvdbackup and read the files from the hard drive instead of the dvd.
I'd like to be able to view these dvds with Xine directly. I don't have enough disk space left (on my laptop) to hold more than one movie at a time and since these Alpha (appropriate name  ) dvds are poor quality, I'd like to take advantage of Xine's de-interlacing and color/brightness/contrast controls to get the most out of them as possible.
