|
|
I'm trying to get my first UEFI kernel booted but it is ending KPs early with
Kernel panic not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
There is a message a little earlier that says:
Please append a correct "root=" boot option. This system is a VM on VMware workstation 11 and is using the VMware UEFI bootloader to boot the kernel (not grub2)
I have no idea where I could append such an option and it is not mentioned in the handbook to so so - only:
efibootmgr --create --part 2 --label "Gentoo" --loader '\efi\boot\vmlinuz.efi'
Any ideas where to start? The root fs is XFS and it has been compiled in to the kernel. Maybe I'm missing the correct HDD driver? _________________ Registered Linux User: 437619

You need to do it in kernel. There is an option under one of the first few menus in menuconfig that allows you to add an internal boot parameter line. Add your root= options there. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

Is it the "Built-in kernel command line" under "Processor Types and Features"? _________________ Registered Linux User: 437619
