Just received this messag when switching from tty7 to tty12.

Not really, it's business as usual with the intel drivers...
It should keep running if you ignore the error, but it might be stuck in software rendering mode afterwards. Only a reboot will fix that. |

If it happens with kernel 3.18 too, reporting a bug as suggested by dmesg would be a good idea. |
