|
|
I have tried to enable cmus to play wma files by enabling use wma . here is the emerging info.
Code: |
ae429-1105 chenming # emerge -av cmus
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] media-sound/cmus-2.5.0-r1 USE="aac alsa flac mad mikmod mp4 pulseaudio unicode vorbis wma* -ao -cddb -cdio -cue -debug -discid -examples -modplug -musepack -oss -pidgin -wavpack -zsh-completion" 0 KiB
Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 KiB
Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] yes
>>> Verifying ebuild manifests
>>> Emerging (1 of 1) media-sound/cmus-2.5.0-r1::gentoo
>>> Installing (1 of 1) media-sound/cmus-2.5.0-r1::gentoo

when i tried to play wma files, A huge amount of white noise coming along with the music.
Do you know how to resolve this issue?
there are also people having the same issue (1) http://www.shuangrimu.com/25/ (2) https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=146556, but i wish to fix this directly using emerge rather than compiling using make.
Thanks,

diablo465 ...
I don't have a .wma file with which to test but this would seem to me an issue related to whatever is providing 'ffmpeg' (so libav or ffmpeg). This is somewhat confimed by the debian user linked above:

... so which do you have?

Hi khayyam, thanks for the reply.
it is caused by ffmpeg apparantly:
Code: |
ae429-1105 chenming # emerge -av libav
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

diablo465 ... I'm not so sure, the above debian user had this issue and debian uses libav, their solution was to build the ffmpeg.so with ffmpeg. However, as you have media-video/ffmpeg-1.2.6-r1 installed then your issue may be due to the fact that this version is now over two years behind the current ffmpeg release. You can try keywording 2.5.4 ... and then rebuild cmus.

and reinstalled cmus. after that, I have executed emerge @preserved-rebuild
then when I run wma file, it says:
.wma': unrecognized filename extension |
