I can't get the cursor back unless I restart X.

How can I unhide the cursor. Note: the cursor works, I can move it around and watch it light up links in chrome, for example, but its not visible and makes it really hard to use.

I've tried a bunch of techniques from googling, including:

1) xsetroot -cursor_name etc.
2) xinput disable ... enable.
3) unclutter

But I can't get the cursor back. Of course if I could keep mame64 from randomly crashing that would be best, but so far... no dice.

Anyone know how to get a cursor to draw after an application has hid it?

Thanks in advance,

Is mame SDL-based? Maybe try umouse: http://icculus.org/lgfaq/#umouse

I also wrote an ebuild for it: https://199394.bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=329186
