Thank you for your time and attention.
I am in the enviable position of owning one of the new G4 iBooks, and have installed a stage3 version of gentoo 1.4 for PPC. During the installation I compilied my own kernel, but this kernel would not boot.
To give you a little back-ground, I wish to install Slackintosh linux and work on building packages for the 9.1 branch of that small project. I initially attempted to install Slackintosh 8.1 (which is completed whereas 9.0 and 9.1 are not), but the installation cd would not recognize my hard-drive. mac-fdisk -l recognized my cdrom as /dev/hda, but would not detect my hard-drive anywhere. I looked then at alternatives and tried the gentoo live cd. It did boot, and recognized my hard drive as /dev/hda and my cdrom as /dev/hdc. I completed a stage3 install of gentoo, complete with my own custom compiled kernel. Upon boot-up, this kernel through a kernel panic. Investigation of the kernel messages as they flew across my screen indicated that this kernel too recognized my cdrom improperly as /dev/hda. I copied the kernel from the live cd in place on my hard-drive and rebooted. This kernel works, recognizing all my hardware properly, and allows me to work normally. I wish to compile my own kernel though, particularly for use with Slackintosh.
My question is this: where can I find the .config for the kernel used by the 1.4 PPC live disk? I would like to diff this against my current .config and see what options I need to change.
Again, thanks. |
