|
|
So, I just finished installing Gentoo and after rebooting, everything went in normally. I logged in and everything, but I noticed that all my network interfaces were missing, so I did what was probably the worst thing I could have done: I went back to the CD, recompiled my kernel with the appropriate Atheros drivers, then I Code: | make && make modules_install && make install |
My best guess is that, that last part messed everything up and I'm clueless since I didn't touch any of the graphical configurations. I did regenerated the grub.cfg and I don't know if this had to do with anything (but it probably does).
After grub selection menu, everything goes dark for a while, then the screen turns on again but no image. Just a dark, lonely reflection of myself looking into my soul with fatherly disapproval.
Any ideas, comrades?
[UPDATE]
The weirdest thing happened. After a while, I turned it on again and it goes straight into the login screen, but it doesn't even show my net interfaces again.
[UPDATE 2]
I got every driver working now, turns out I compiled the built in and not as modules. On a side note, atl1c sucks, my advice is to install it with insmod instead of using modprobe. The thing now is, that the system still hangs a lot between kernel loading and login. |
