I have a two kernels on my system, and I can choose from grub which one to load. The problem is that the latest kernel I installed, nothing works. No modules are loaded. I have support for my network card in the kernel config (module). I have searched the forum, and I added this line to my /etc/conf./local.start:
Code: |
rm /usr/src/linux
ln -s /usr/src/linux-`uname -r` /usr/src/linux |
but still my network card doesn't word...usb-modules neither...
please help |

What is the newer kernel? If it's a 2.6.0-test kernel, you need to install module-init-tools to be able to load modules, due to changes in the module interface. It also includes the old modutils and acts as a wrapper to them when running a kernel which doesn't use module-init-tools. Changing that symlink at boot shouldn't really be necessary, AFAIK. |

I got the 2.4.22_Pre2-gss and the 2.4.23_Pre8_gss. Is it possible to make this work ? Really frustrating... |
