Vaguely a security issue I suppose so I posted here :)

basically, everythings installed as it should be with no errrors. I've checked /etc/login.defs FTMP_FILE option is correct. I've touched /var/log/btmp. However no bad login attempts are recorded. I'm simulating bad logins via SSH and su'ing. I see the bad login messages in /var/log/messages aswell.

What have I missed?
