|
|
I'm attempting to install Gentoo in a Xen virtual machine and when I try to emerge Grub2, emerge gives an error saying "emake failed". I'm running on the amd64/13.0/systemd profile and only changed a few USE flags (systemd X alsa bindist bluetooth mmx sse sse2 sse3 sse4 ssse3 avx aes pclmul multilib ipv6 pulseaudio dbus)
I can supply any additional information which might be needed to troubleshoot the issue. Any direction on the issue would be appreciated! _________________ -JoDraX |

There should be no specific to be done because of domU;
Besides it being no used to be installed, as grub-mkconfig should suffice.
I don't know about systemd though.
May be you should try the same way your dom0, assuming it is systemd?
Thks 4 ur attention |

My dom0 is using systemd, but grub was installed before systemd on my dom0. And if I only need grub-mkconfig, is there a way to only install that and maybe the build won't fail then? _________________ -JoDraX |

Can you compile grub on dom0?
If you have dom0 on HD parttition, you should be able fiddle your grub compilation in chrooted env.
There seems to be no systemd flag for grub, anyway (which seems logical) |

I think I'll just try reinstalling the whole thing in a chroot and see how it goes. _________________ -JoDraX |

I tried the install in a chroot, and everything worked fine! Thank you!
Also, I realized that pvgrub is legacy grub-based, so I ended up rolling back to legacy grub as well, which may have helped things go smoother. _________________ -JoDraX |
