Can anyone with freetype[infinality] reprodue a crash of every graphical browser on handelsblatt.com?
Steps to reproduce:
stable amd64
profile default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/kde
Code: | [ebuild R ] media-libs/freetype-2.5.5:2::gentoo USE="X adobe-cff bzip2 infinality png static-libs -auto-hinter -bindist -debug -doc -fontforge -harfbuzz -utils" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)" 0 KiB
[ebuild R ] sys-libs/glibc-2.20-r2:2.2::gentoo USE="hardened (multilib) -debug -gd -nscd -profile (-selinux) -suid -systemtap -vanilla" 0 KiB
eselect fontconfig enable infinality
eselect infinality set (any-of infinality,linux,nyx) |
Open http://www.handelsblatt.com/ with firefox-38.1.0, opera-beta-31.0.1889.50 or stable chromium, rekonq or konqueror.
WARNING: browser crash incoming! Click the first article.
Firefox simply closes without any messages, but the other browsers trigger a dmesg message leading to glibc:
Quote: | [ 128.589482] CompositorTileW[2418]: segfault at 0 ip 00000323ab080d90 sp 0000032398615050 error 4 in libc-2.20.so[323aaff5000+1a1000] |
This is a desktop profile with "hardened" use flag unmasked and set. Is this crash reproducable on a more "default" setup? |

Hi Apheus, I'm not able to reproduce the crash you experienced.
My configuration:
- stable amd64 (with few packages unmasked);
- profile: default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/kde
- freetype2 stable version (2.5.5) with infinality use flag set;
Code: | eix freetype
[I] media-libs/freetype
...
...
Installed versions: 2.5.5(2)(17:51:50 17/02/2015)(X adobe-cff bzip2 infinality png -auto-hinter -bindist -debug -doc -fontforge -harfbuzz -static-libs -utils ABI_MIPS="-n32 -n64 -o32" ABI_PPC="-32 -64" ABI_S390="-32 -64" ABI_X86="64 -32 -x32")

Thanks for your answer. In the meantime, I set up a non-hardened test system in virtualbox where I kept as close to the handbook as possible, and I can still trigger the crash. Bug reported:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=556028
I tried living without infinality, but there are always some sites with fonts which look awful or are rendered plain buggy. That applies to the other infinality settings (osx*, win*) too. |
