First time installing Gentoo. I'm doing stage 3. When I extract portage-20030911.tar.bz2 file from /mnt/cdrom/snapshots/ on Live CD 1 it works for about 15 seconds. Then, it will start giving error messages that only 0 of x number of bytes were written of a file and it moves on to the next one where the same thing happens. Is there another argument I have to pass to tar? |

Sounds to me you're out of space on your harddrive. |

Did you copy this file to your harddrive? or are you extracting to the harddrive? You can also try downloading a new tarball from one of the mirrors instead of using the one on the CD.
will tell you how much free space you have.
