Hi,

So last night, i did an emerge -u world, but i had some masked packages installed and it died half way thru. I"m not sure if that is what caused my issues.

Today, I was copying a icon from the K menu in KDE to the kicker, and suddenly the kicker died.

I restarted X, and the kicker would not come up, neither would kde.

I reemerged kde-libs and my kde was able to get a bit further.

But now when i try to run kde stuff like kicker or kcontrol etc. i get these errors.

kicker: relocation error: /usr/kde/3.1/lib/libkonq.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN9QGroupBox10setEnabledEb

Also when i try to start licq [i compiled wiht qt and kde] it gives me more errors about this unresolved symbol..

I'm not against

emerge unmerge kde;emerge kde

But others have suggested this may be dangerous.

Thanks.

Jeff.

I'm getting the same error, kde is totally screwed :-(

I'm trying to emerge kdelibs in an attempt to resolve this, getting nowhere atm.

I believe the error you are getting is because you need to remerge kdelibs after emergeing Qt. IIRC following a recent emerge of either build it does mentions this in the output. Doing a remerge fixed this problem for me.

I have manually emerged -C all of my kde installs, and removed of the directories associated with the various versions in /usr/kde, and started from scratch. Most of the emerges went ok but I had a few which were a pain, and afer relaxing a number of the USE variables and cflags, oh! and an emerge sync I have now managed to get KDE3.2.1 installed.

Just need to fix sound which was working quite happily before :?
