i have installed gnome and gdm but when i log into gnome through gdm a popup message appears telling me that it can't find the gnome installation and gives me a safe terminal ??
anyone any ideas why this might be happening ??

I've got a laptop that's doing something similar. When GDM tries to autologin a user into gnome, it bumps them into a twm session. When autologin is disabled and a user just logs into Gnome, it works fine. |

this problem happens when i disable auto login as well
currently i have to use icewm, but i will try emerge gnome again see if that fixes it |

there are some bash scripts in /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/ you can add one that says gnome-session there |

it all works now, i had to re-emerge gnome |
