|
|
I just upgraded from thunderbird-31.8.0 to thunderbird-38.1.0.
When the new thunderbird connects to my local uw-imap (started via xinetd)
it appears to connect:
Code: | ==> maillog <==
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public imapd[31027]: imaps SSL service init from 127.0.0.1
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public imapd[31035]: imaps SSL service init from 127.0.0.1
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public imapd[31034]: imaps SSL service init from 127.0.0.1
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public imapd[31035]: Unexpected client disconnect, while reading line user=??? host=UNKNOWN
==> messages <==
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public xinetd[3552]: START: imaps pid=31027 from=127.0.0.1
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public xinetd[3552]: START: imaps pid=31034 from=127.0.0.1
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public xinetd[3552]: START: imaps pid=31035 from=127.0.0.1
Jul 26 16:43:12 runner-public xinetd[3552]: EXIT: imaps status=1 pid=31035 duration=0(sec)
|
And after typing my password:
Code: | ==> maillog <==
Jul 26 16:44:21 runner-public imapd[31027]: Authenticated user=richard host=localhost [127.0.0.1] mech=PLAIN
Jul 26 16:44:21 runner-public imapd[31034]: Authenticated user=richard host=localhost [127.0.0.1] mech=PLAIN
|
But then Thunderbird never shows messages. In the Thunderbird status bar at the bottom left of the GUI it states:
rich@myisp: Looking for folders ...
Five imapd processes are eventually started (all running at 100% cpu) and about 5 thunderbird processes are running at about 30%CPU usage.
Any idea on how to get Thunderbird-38.1 working. (Reverting to Thunderbird-31.8.0 'Fixes' the issue.)

I have tried this now on my 2nd Gentoo system. Same issue: thunderbird-38.1.0 connects to my local uw-imap but does not show any messages. Any ideas on how to get verbose debugging information out of thunderbird? |

solved: this issue had nothing to do with uw-imap. The issue was that thunderbird scans your home directory and it was getting stuck down in my ~/.wine directory. I moved .wine and now the new thunderbird works well.
I also set:
export WINEPREFIX=<path to wine -- defaults to ~/.wine>
so wine knows where .wine is. |
