I just read some posts concerning ipv6. Why would I want to use ipv6?? What's the benefit over using my current ISP assigned ipv4 address??

Will all my current windows (ipv4) applications still work behind the router? (which is currently NAT)?

So, do you use ipv6? And why (not)??

If your ISP doesn't support it, then don't bother unless you are a complete nerd and want to play with it. The tunnel will only slow your packets down.

Now if the ISPs started routing IPv6 and gave us IP blocks (there are like 1000 IPv6 addresses per square foot on the planet), it would be worth it.

NAT won't understand IPv6 and will probably choke on it.

i setup a 6tunnel because i wanted to :) learning is fun. actually, i took the oppurtunity to learn how to fully setup bind. with my own block of ipv6 addresses i was able to setup reverse dns. now when i get on irc it shows my domain/sub domain instead of my boring cable provider hostname.

dns spam ++

I know there are lots of ipv6 addresses available ( about 1 for every square cm of earth (including the oceans))

Now the only problem is finding out whether my Chello (NL) ISP supports ipv6 or not.

Are there any easy ways of finding out? Their helpdesk is not helpful, so that is out of the question, and their website is only made up out of advertizements. I have to find out other than contacting them, I suppose.

(I know, Chello is a sucky ISP, but it's the only thing that comes close to broadband here.)
