I am running gnome 2.4 with the latest nvidia drivers. After a few minutes of anything the screen begins to "degrade". What I mean with degrade is that the video starts to stop drawing areas (blocks of pixels not single pixels). The problem is fixed if I move an object over the screen and force a redraw.
At first I assumed it was the nvidia drivers so I recompiled those and the problem still exists. Recompiled everything to do with gnome and gnome itself. Still the problem persists.
Now I am thinking maybe its the video card.
Anyone seen something like this or have suggestions? As a last resort I will buy another video card and give that a try.
kernel - 2.6.0test8
nvidia - 4496
gnome - 2.4
nvidia - geforce4 ti4200 32meg
Thanks,

Check the heatsink/fan on your video card. I had an old voodoo3 that did something similar because it was overheating. |
