Hi
After Days of installing I've got a very fast well working Gentoo Workstation.
Everything could be sooooo good .. if my printer would work !
It's a Brother 1250 hanging on an little Intel Printserver.
Printing from Windowsdoes work very good, so printer & server are working,
I'm using Cups with foomatic configured as follows :
Device : LPD/LPR Host or Printer
Device URI: lpd://192.168.1.20/NetPrint
Printer/Model : Brother HL-1250 Foomatic/hl1250 (recommended)
When I try to print the printer seems to get Data for it starts to
print - but unfortunatly just trash.
At the beginning I got some plain Text - last readable line is :
@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCL
followed by empty papers and control-chars
So I would say hardware ist working, connection too but my printer
does not understand me, right ? But it is the right driver, isn't it ?
I also tried some other brother drivers I found on the net - same problem.
Can anyone tell me what I could do or try next ?!? I'm running
out of ideas ! please !
Greetings,
Adam |

oh, and by the way :
I've tried several Driver :
-rw------- 1 root root 52972 Nov 4 15:21 Brother-HL-1250-gimp-print.ppd
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 24500 Sep 24 12:33 Brother-HL-1250-hl1250-ppd.ppd
-rw------- 1 root root 10999 Sep 24 13:43 Brother-HL-1250-hl1250.ppd
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 21828 Sep 24 12:33 Brother-HL-1250-ljet4-ppd.ppd
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 29514 Sep 24 12:33 Brother-HL-1250-omni-ppd.ppd
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 21673 Sep 24 12:33 Brother-HL-1250-pxlmono-ppd.ppd
some of them did it almost - I got even pictures from the printer test page.
But they have been printed seperated trough many pages and did look very poor ...
even plain Text is - if printed - not really readabel.
(printer - as mentioned - is working fine under win)
