My Gentoo is 64bit, kernel version 4.+. I have compiled my kernel following https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Android_USB_Tethering, with RNDIS support.
After I compiled the kernel, installed the modules, and reboot, I am able to see the "usb0" device using "ip addr", and I can connect to the network successfully using usb tethering.
But after reboot, I can still see the "usb0" device, but I got "link is not ready" in dmesg, and I cannot connect to the network.
I have tried re-plugin, disable then enable tethering, but still does not work. _________________ David Shen |

davidshen84,
How does usb0 get its setup?
Is it still usb0 after a reboot or has udev renamed it? _________________ Regards,

After reboot, it is still called "usb0". I did not do any particular configuration to use "usb0" to connect to the network the first. Everything was done automatically.
I suspect it has something to do with my Windows machine. The "usb0" failed to work after I connected my phone to a Windows machine and used tethering. But I have no idea why could Windows affect the tethering configuration. Maybe I am wrong. _________________ David Shen |
