hi,

the net is full of problems regarding apple's pie under linux and I wonder: is anybody running his/her macbook pro with gentoo where everything's fine including battery life and trackpad use?

I just bought the new macbook pro 2015 too.
for me, the net is good. You should use brcmfmac with the right linux-firmware driver. I am running the kde5 and I am still exploring. I found a patch for touchpad and keyboard function.
