|
|
I run a jabber server for work, and, after upgrading gaim from 0.70 to 0.71, gaim started crashing immediately when attempting to log into the jabber server. The gaim changelog for 0.71 says
Quote: | * Re-write of Jabber protocol plugin |
which makes me suspicious. I tried the 0.72-r1 ebuild from ~x86, and I tried the 0.71-r2 ebuild with the ipv6 patch removed, but neither of those helped. Has anyone else encountered this, and is there a fix? I quick search of the gaim site didn't turn up anything. In the mean time, sticking with 0.70-r2 works for me. |

FWIW. I started using Jabber around .70. I am now on .72-r1 with no problems. Are you using SSL or OLD SSL support? JAbber server support SSL? |

I have ssl in my USE flags, so the gaim-encryption is indeed built. I dies whether or not I actually enable the plugin, tho, so I doubt that is it. I never enabled OLD SSL.
The jabber server does have ssl enabled. I'll try without ssl, both for gaim and for the server and report back. |

Well, it's working now. What I did was to delete the account from the jabber server, and re-create it with gaim 0.71-r2, and gaim no longer crashes. Don't ask me why it works now and didn't before, but I'm satisfied. Note that this solution won't work for anyone seeing this problem who's not running their own jabber server, but it works for me. |

I had this problem with my jabber account (on jabber.cz), but upgrading to 0.72 did nothing for me... i always had the ssl suport compiled too. |

I had trouble with Jabber/0.71 too. Searching the Gaim bugzilla revealed that 0.71 was sending malformed XML to the servers.
I guess it depends on what server you are using as to the response you got back, but I know that jabber.org kept sending back an "unsupported authorization" error.
Upgrading to 0.72 sorted it. |

use a client (on a friends pc, or some commandline client) that understands transports to register the aim transport with your jabber server
then use gossip... works fine here, i have icq and msn contacts _________________ jabber: tuks@amessage.be
