|
|
I'm about to install my new nforce2 mobo and I wanted to clarify a few things.
I'm planning on using ck-sources 2.4.22. Has anyone had an major incompatibilities with these sources and nforce2?
At what stage should I install the forceware linux drivers?
I'm planning to get the base system installed then go back and fix things for nforce related problems before I start installing x and all that. Any hints/tips would be appreciated, although I have managed to pick up a lot from reading other posts, it is hard to judge what my experience will be like given the 9 months of nforce2 posts that have passed since the board came and the kernel development in the same time.
Thanks,
Tinkerer |

ok well, the nforce2 drivers arent in the kernel, after you got the kernel compiled //modules installed you gotta say
emerge nforce-net && emerge nforce-audio
but if you like i find that the intel 1x80 sound drivers work just as well |

mad tinker,
if you follow the install instructions, you will emerge the drivers at the end of step 16.

I've got nforce working. It's not that hard. If you want serial ata to work though, I highly suggest you use some sources from the newest test version of the 2.6 kernel. If not, it will be very difficult to make serial ata work. The audio and network stuff is cake. And making an nvidia video card work is a little less than cake. When 2.6 final is out I'm going to redo my whole gentoo install. Right now I'm using the 2.4 ac-sources and serial ata doesn't work (though it should supposedly). |
