Read-only in the wrong location
I'm now building 32-bit to accommodate some programs that will only work in a 32-bit system. Under VMWare, right after it checks the filesystems things go haywire. For some strange reason, the root filesystem is left mounted read-only and most oddly / is misidentified as /dev/sda1 and it's mounted on /boot and not on /. You can see it here: http://pasteboard.co/1WHWdz2A.png
Grub.cfg and /etc/fstab follow:
Code: | set timeout=3
insmod part_msdos
insmod ext2
set root=(hostdisk//dev/sda,msdos1)
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set ea1ec171-b9e3-41b9-a361-d0743aa8336a
if loadfont /grub/unifont.pf2; then
set gfxmode=text
insmod all_video
terminal_output gfxterm
fi
set menu_color_normal=cyan/blue
set menu_color_highlight=blue/cyan
menuentry "Funtoo Linux - kernel-genkernel-x86-3.19.3-1~exp1" {
insmod part_msdos
insmod ext2
set root=(hostdisk//dev/sda,msdos1)
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set ea1ec171-b9e3-41b9-a361-d0743aa8336a
linux /kernel-genkernel-x86-3.19.3-1~exp1 root=/dev/sda3 rootfstype=ext4
initrd /initramfs-genkernel-x86-3.19.3-1~exp1
set gfxpayload=keep
}
set default=0 |
Code: | /dev/sda1 /boot ext2 noatime 1 2
/dev/sda2 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/sda3 / ext4 noatime 0 1 |

so the assumption is,
1) is this Funtoo?
2) is the initramfs creation tool part of Funtoo?
Unfortunately I don't know how the initramfs generation tool is on Funtoo and it could be at fault getting the partitions confused. But there is where I don't know further... can you live without initramfs If you get rid of your initrd, does it work? _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Unsupported Software.
to avoid gentoo users being mislead by a potential solution that has only been tested on Funtoo _________________ Regards,

You're right. My bad. I toggle between Funtoo and Gentoo, so I get them mixed up sometimes. This one is Funtoo-specific, https://bugs.funtoo.org/browse/FL-2962 |
