Read-only in the wrong location
I'm now building 32-bit to accommodate some programs that will only work in a 32-bit system. Under VMWare, right after it checks the filesystems things go haywire. For some strange reason, the root filesystem is left mounted read-only and most oddly / is misidentified as /dev/sda1 and it's mounted on /boot and not on /. so the assumption is,
1) is this Funtoo?
2) is the initramfs creation tool part of Funtoo?
Unfortunately I don't know how the initramfs generation tool is on Funtoo and it could be at fault getting the partitions confused. But there is where I don't know further... can you live without initramfs If you get rid of your initrd, does it work?

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Unsupported Software.
to avoid gentoo users being mislead by a potential solution that has only been tested on Funtoo

| You're right. My bad. I toggle between Funtoo and Gentoo, so I get them mixed up sometimes. This one is Funtoo-specific, https://bugs.funtoo.org/browse/FL-2962 |
