|

Since I use Plasma 5, I regurarily experience the following:
When I do Plasma or KDE Frameworks updates (via portage) while in a Plasma session, I cannot logout/reboot/shutdown anymore with the usual plasma-buttons. Also, the qdbus command to tell Plasma to logout doesn't work anymore.
With KDE4 this worked fine.
Do you also have problems with this?
I know, updating software while using it is propably not the best idea (I do it only for minor version bumps at least). However, I want to do some work (in plasma) while I wait for gcc to compile plasma/frameworks; and in the past (kde4) it always worked reliable.
How do you solve this issue? Any advice?
Greetings, Lukas
EDIT:
I forgot to mention: I use systemd and sddm as displaymanager. |

Nah not really, all kinds of strange things happened when updating kdelibs4 during a running session, all the time. So I made a habit of just updating it during the night.

Out of curiousity, I was looking into --buildpkgonly but of course the problem is you _will_ have interdependencies (parts of kde-plasma required at build time for other kde-plasma packages) so it won't work to built them all first, then merge them all later. |

Thanks for looking into it, genstorm.

Yes, I have. The buttons work fine under _normal_ circumstances. The problem appears only immediately after an update (in a plasma-session) without restarting the session. |
