Hi,
I am using xfree-drm with nvidia agpgart (enabled). Everything loads fine, works fine (though glxgears show poor performance). But when I shutdown or reboot the machine from KDE, the monitor gets turned off and the machine hangs there. Nothing like
Stopping xxxx [ok]
appears on screen and it remains blank (switched off) forever.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Venkat. |

Which kernel did you use? Did you enable ACPI? Try setting acpi=off in lilo.
append="acpi=off"
My power shutdown didn't work with 2.4.22-ac-r4. It displayed "Power Down", and I had to switch it off. But, I emerge the vanilla-sources and patched it with the latest ACPI patch from http://acpi.sourceforge.net/. Now, everything works fine.

thanks for your reply. i have the ck-sources (2.4.22 with ck2). i suspected xfree-drm is doing this. i unmerged xfree-drm and it shuts down fine now! i don't know what in the drm module is causing this. but i am with no dri & 3-d now. i'll try append=acpi off as you said and see what happens. |

hmm, are u using a nvidia card??
if so, sou should go away from
xfree-drm and use the nvidia-glx
and the nvidia-kernel packages.
that should improve ur glxgears
performance. |
