I've liked KDM very much, but now I'm not using KDE anymore and am using enlightenment in its place. Now I don't have KDM and am looking for something similar that allows you to choose a session from /etc/X11/Sessions and doesn't have too many dependancies. XDM isn't letting me choose sessions, seems I can't do much with it, and it doesn't look nice either. I've heard of GDM but it has too many dependancies. I've also heard of qingy, but heard that joysticks don't work with it. Are there any other apps that people use that might work for me? _________________ GO ASASHORYU!

GDM, Qingy, Entrance, XDM - those are the ones I can think of...
I would still go with GDM, I love it. |

I've used GDM before, and yes, its great, but thats going to install 40 other apps just to satisfy dependancies. I'm using a laptop so I want to keep it as light as possible. Emerging GDM is going to pull lynx, portmap, esound, and several other apps under gnome-base/.
WDM is masked, is it safe? Entrance is masked too.
Qingy seems interesting, but are the joystick bugs out yet? _________________ GO ASASHORYU!

I use entrance myself, but I can't get it to use the sessions in /etc/X11/Sessions so I'll go back to GDM I guess, but entrace does look promising |

I am using gdm, but it doesn't list enlightenment in the session list.
there is an 'enlightenment' file in the Sessions folder for GDM.
I can't figure out what's up |

I would give qingy a try its that what youre looking for.. Its very fast and light and I think it only needs DirectFB as a dependency.. Just try it and see if that bug is fixed (I think so)..
Only problem is it wont run when you have glibc with nptl compiled! |

qingy is definitely the way to go
latest version is very smooth, configutrable backgrounds and fonts...
Lets you cycle through all the sessions to choose which you want - and very easy to set up _________________ Aerosolo ergo sum - I spray therefore I am
