My laptop does keep suspended when I close the lid

Hello!

I'm quite new in gentoo and I'm having this problem I didn't have in other distros such as arch.

The problem is that when I close the lid the laptop does suspend but after 2 or 3 seconds it's not suspended anymore which results in an extremelly high use of battery when I'm not using it.

I've googled this problem without finding a clear solution. Is it necesary to have the laptop-mode activated? I mean, I used it in my previous gentoo installation but it resulted in a big decrease of the laptop's performance.
