I am new to gentoo, and not sure how to aproach troubleshooting a build issue yet. As per the handbook, I selected the profile (in my case 12 which has systemd) and acordingly I executed the manditory command for systemd users:
emerge --ask --update --deep --newuse --ask @world
I am performing these from within a chroot environment as my current system is arch.
emerge --info '=app-arch/lz4-0_p120::gentoo'

I am thinking this might have something to do with my make.conf but not sure what. I did forget a = for CFLAGS when i first did a emerge-webrsync which I later fixed and reissued the command.
Any guidence would be apreciated. Thank you. |

You said you have a problem with =app-arch/lz4-0_p120::gentoo and provided us with your overall system configuration, but you did not provide the error message. There are many ways a build can fail. Please pastebin the build log from a failed compilation so that we can see exactly what went wrong. |

[Solved: See tail]
Thanks for pointing that out, I overlooked it. The error I am given is
Quote: |
* ERROR: app-arch/lz4-0_p120::gentoo failed (compile phase):
* emake failed |
I looked at https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Portage_log#Build_logs which indicated a default location of /var/log/portage for the build logs,
all I could find in there was summary.log, which this pastebin contains: http://pastebin.com/iS5DLrsY
[tail ~]
overlooked a directory /var/tmp/portage/app-arch/lz4-0_p120/temp
which had the build log, inside I found a reference to j5 being a wrong target, in which I realized my make.conf I forgot to put a - before my j5
Quote: |
MAKEOPTS="J5"
becomes
MAKEOPTS="-J5"
|
I have to restart the whole thing as I was in what I thought was another tmux window, doing rsync stuff and some rm's and it turns out I ended up doing a rm -rf * on something inside the chroot, I should pay more attention to where I am working.[/quote] |

What if first solving these warnings http://pastebin.com/raw/iS5DLrsY wrote: | WARN: pretend

CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER: should not be set. But it is. |
Using eselect kernel list, then setting the actual kernel version and removing the CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER should help. |
