laikonsis,

You can install Gentoo from any random Linux distro as long as you use a 64 bit kernel for a 64 bit install.

System Rescue CD is a good choice.
Being Gentoo based, there are no extra steps.

So is it just a bug?

The medium used to boot to install won't make much of a difference, unless it does not have the tools for making a partition and formatting a file system. Note that the processor architecture must be the same you want for the install, i.e., amd64.

After booting, you download your stage 3 tarball to the file system you created for your new install and then you continue as nothing different has happened.

So the different hash code is just a bug? I'm asking for curiosity.

laikonsis,

Probably. It tells that the published hash does not belong to the published content.
It says nothing about which is incorrect, only that they differ, so you don't know where the bug is.

It should make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end - its a warning.
How you proceed is up to you. I would use a different boot media.
