I cannot seem to get flash and quicktime to work with Mozilla or Firebird.
I emerged libflash, and libquicktime, no luck.
I downloaded the flash installer from shockwave.com and installed it into "/usr/lib/mozilla" and "/usr/lib/MozillaFirebird" (while all browsers were closed, and while root), no luck. In fact, I cannot seem to find any flash *.so files at all in those directories. But the installer gave no errors. When I first started firebird as my user after installing I got some error message about libflash.so not existing in some directory, something about nsbrowser (I think - sorry I can't be more specific on the error messages, but I cannot get them to reoccur)
What do I have to do to get flash and quicktime working with mozilla and/or firebird?
thanks...

Check you have a symlink (and it has to be a symlink) to the flash library in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins:
Code: | /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so -> /opt/netscape/plugins/libflashplayer.so |
Alternatively it might be in your local .mozilla/default/.../plugins directory.
You are using the Gentoo flash ebuild right? net-www/netscape-flash (yes, works with mozilla et al...) |

but I still cannot get quicktime to work.
what are openquicktime and quicktime4linux?
do I need seperate ebuilds for the quicktime plugin and the ability to play quicktime files on my computer?
thanks...

I used mplayer, the quicktime codecs, and the mplayerplugin for mozilla to get quicktime working. |
