Do you have a /etc/X11/XF86Config ?
Doesn't seem like you do? |

well, you were absolutely right. copying XF86Conf from my backup files (i always save all important system files) solved the problem.
thank you |

I was doing an emerge --help system and then I was told that I had a bunch of files that needed updating so I did and now my X doesn't work. I didn't save a back up copy as you did. I was wondering if you could post your settings. I get the same error except for one more because I was messing around and forgot what was originally in there. Thanks _________________ Where's the any key? |

Have you tried running xf86config to generate a new XF86Config file, digital? |

I havn't tried that. I will do that once I get home. When you say "run xfree86" do you mean emerge XFree86? or what are you talking about? I'm new. Thanks. _________________ Where's the any key? |

xf86config is a program that will ask you a few questions and generate a new XF86Config file based on your answers. You can then go in and manually edit a few things if you have to. You run it by typing "xf86config" in the console. |

Cool. That worked. I'm back up on KDE now. Thanks for the support. _________________ Where's the any key? |
