Hallo!
Jedesmal, wenn ich mit eine dvi-Datei anschauen will erscheint folgende Fehlermeldung:

Resultat ist, daß keine Schrift zu sehen ist. Habe zwar mal ein paar Schriften hinzugefügt, aber nix ändert sich!

| Ist das ein kdvi spezifisches Problem oder funktioniert es auch mit xdvi oder dvips nicht? |

Welche Schrift ist den da gemeint?
[Edit] OK, wer googelt ist schlauer - die Schriften muß man sich von www.ctan.org herunterladen - doch wo muß ich die dann entpacken? (in /usr/share/texmf/source/) oder gibt es da ein extra Verzeichnis für Schriften?

Aehhh... kann es sein, dass Du kein TeX installiert hast? Das sind alles Standard Schriften von TeX, die man nicht von Hand nachinstallieren muss. cm steht für Computer Modern, dass ist die Schriftfamilie die TeX verwendet, wenn man nichts anderes sagt. cmr10 z.B. ist dann Computer Modern Roman 10 Punkt, und dass ist die Basisschrift schechthin für TeX.
In jeder vollständigen TeX Installation ist auch metafont, dass dann automatisch die Schriften in den passenden Auflösungen für Bildschirm, Drucker oder PDF Ausgabe berechnet.
Falls Du also kein TeX installiert hast sollte ein Dein Problem lösen  (tetex, da der Ersteller der Standard Unix TeX-Distribution Thomas Esser heisst). Falls Du TeX doch schon hast würd ich's zur Sicherheit nochmal emergen, das Problem liegt mit Sicherheit auf der Seite, die Schriften sind in dem Paket.

Edit: Ich hab mir Dein Posting nochmal angesehen und entdeckt, dass Du Dir anscheinend die LaTeX-Kurzanleitung ansehn willst, daher nehem ich an, dass Du neu bei TeX bist, dann erstmal herzlich Willkommen in der Welt des edlen Text-Satzes! Eine Gentoo spezifische Einführung in LaTeX (dem meist benutzten Makropaket für TeX) findet sich Hier. Falls Du nicht neu bei TeX bist, enschuldige die Fehleinschätzung |

Hast schon Recht - bin noch Anfänger. Wollt mich mal einarbeiten. Habe eigentlich tetex schon installiert, werd's aber nochmal emergen (sicher ist sicher).

Wenn's nach den re-emerge immer noch nicht klappt, sag' Bescheid, dann ist irgendwas verkonfiguriert... normalerweise klappt das aber einigermassen Out-of-the-box.
Sich in LaTeX einzuarbeiten ist, wenn man Texte mit Formeln oder länger als 30 Seiten schreiben will sehr sinnvoll
