I understand en.gentoo-wiki.com is gone, because Gentoo need to push the brand new official one, wiki.gentoo.org.
But why the archive site of gentoo-wiki, the www.gentoo-wiki.info, is gone too. It is just a read-only website.
There are lots of valuable articles on old gentoo-wiki site, which I can't find on new wiki.gentoo.org. So who can tell me where can I find gentoo-wiki.info, the read-only archive site, back (not gentoo-wiki.com). I just want a place to search for the historic valuable articles. |

You can probably find it in some wayback machine.

For example? Most of the stuff should be outdated. |

The newest articles on that site had been left untouched since 2008. A lot has changed since then. People would wind up in #gentoo having followed advice they read on the outdated site and it would take a while to unwind the mess. It was a decent resource for its time, but that time has long since expired. |

Not quite. After announcing they wanted to co-exist, the owner of the dot-com site decided to shut down at some point without telling anyone. We didn't push anything or anyone to do this. But it illustrates nicely why an official project wiki is needed that does not "just" disappear at some point in time. _________________ I am Confuism. Do not bother me. |

What a3li said, and the incident where the lights suddenly went out on gentoo-wiki.com and it was mostly reconstructed from googles cache by users.
IIRC, thats where gentoo-wiki.info came from. _________________ Regards,
