If I hear my music on the radio, it defaces itself, can't keep on listening to it then. |

metal!!
i'm weirdly eclectic so i listen to mostly stuff like:
Tool
Fear Factory
Dream Theater
Nile
Mudvayne
In Flames
Opeth
Hatebreed
Surcease
Blindside
Thrice
AFI
Coheed and Cambria
Avenged Sevenfold (just started getting into them, they're quite awesome!)
Death By Stereo
From Autumn to Ashes
Killswitch Engage
Spineshank
Sevendust
Type O Negative
Kittie
gODHEAD
and meh... to much else to list, as for other stuff, classic punk and modern punk catch me (bands like the clash, the sex pistols, buzzcocks, stiff little fingers, etc.) |

It is all about digging deep and finding good shit. Really hard to trust these "new" bands on the labels with the old timers.
Anyways, listened to Dimension Zero - This is hell. Very modest title for this cd, really recommend listening to this one. |

Naglfar, very brutal sound its great. Something reminded me of a promo of Illnath - Cast into Fields of Evil Pleasure, excellent black metal. Think older Cradle of Filth, not the current piece of shit they pass for music. |

Funny that you should mention Illnath, cause I discovered that band a short while ago, during a downloading frenzy and ordered CiFoEP a couple of days ago. |

Of the heavier stuff I listen to
~Darkest Hour
~(old) Avenged Sevenfold
~Stike Anywhere
~The Blood Brothers
~American Nightmare
~Old Glasseater
~Thrice
~Hope Conspiracy
~Refused
~GWAR
and so on. I suppose most of those bands arent really metal, but whatever.

Amon Amarth
Anathema
Blind Guardian
Children of Bodom
Dark Tranquillity
Dimmu Borgir
Dream Theater
Forest of Shadows
Iced Earth
In Flames
Katatonia (old katatonia, that is)
My Dying Bride
Nightwish
Opeth
Rhapsody
Startovarious
Tristania (easily my favorite)
I think it's interesting how many people here listen to the darker forms of Metal. Can anyone think of a reason why so many Gentooers do? At most of the other forums I go it, it's virtually unheard-of. _________________ "Vidar, Odin's mighty son, he will come to slay the wolf

I used to listen to a lot of Metal, but I mostly hang around Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix since the past few... er... years.
I used to listen to a lot of these (I still do, but not as much as I used to)
Black Sabbath,
Megadeth,
Iron Maiden,
Metallica (nothing after their Black Album suits my tastes),
Deep Purple,
etc...
I am very much interested in Carnatic Classical Music (Indian stuf) these days. Too bad I can't understand much of it at the moment. _________________ http://freeshell.in/~vish/ |

Denmark is surprisingly bad with metal bands having Norway, Sweden and Finland right next to them. Only ones I can even think of are Konhkra, Mnemic, Illnath, King Diamond if that even counts. |

These are the bands which i listen to the most, but i do like many more metal bands. What i can't stand is this 'Nu Metal' crap.
Sacha |
yeh the "nu" stuff is crap. I don't understand how can people listen to the untalented nu bands. They sound like they got a pop singer and guitar players who were literaly put guitars in their hands just to show they play a guitar |
whoa whoa whoa.... back up ...... korn is Nu-Metal ... and Oh does korn ROCK
i'll agree that bands like crazytown deserved to be gang-raped by a pack of rabbid monkeys... but do NOT dis korn....
or better yet, how about we not lump bands together as "uninspired" by genre _________________ [ Censored by unpopular demand] |

you're right, korn rocks!!!
i listen to korn since they released their first album.
i think korn created a new sound, korn was korn, and is still.
i don't care if a band is nu-metal or whatever.
i listen to what they are saying. _________________ hail eris, all hail discordia. [fnord] |

Reminds me of Marilyn Manson getting cancelled from Monterrey, Mexico, whatever the reason is but Manson is shit. Much easier for Dimmu Borgir or Zyklon go there and play without any problems. |

Ah the beautiful and true power of metal...nice to know there a lot of other metalheads like me. Although here most of the Linux users are into metal it's nice to see that the trend extends throughout the rest of the world.
As for my bands there are way too many to enumerate so i'll leave a link to my current and ever changing mp3 dir list have fun

PS - For a nice experience try programming C while listening to one of the first to albums of Finntroll it's nice |

There can be no metal thread without mention of Black Sabbath, the greatest metal band ever to rock this planet. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes classic metal (you know, with actual vocals). Other kick-ass metal bands:
Tool (the best current one)
Alice in Chains
Metallica (lately downhill, but still pretty sweet)
Sevendust
System of a Down
