VirtualBox mini toolbar does not respond to clicks in Plasma

Hi,

I have happily used VirtualBox and KDE 4 for several years. But, after upgrading to KDE Plasma 5, I have noticed the mini toolbar (that drops down in fullscreen mode) no longer works for me. The toolbar drops down as expected; however, when I click on the buttons, nothing happens. It behaves like something is between the mouse and the toolbar, blocking or consuming the click events.

If I operate in Windowed mode, I can use the window menu bar, and the Host-Home pop-up menu works fine. I prefer using the drop-down mini tool bar for minimizing the fullscreen desktop, and now I can't.

Has anybody else had this problem? Has anybody else resolved it? I have Googled a few different times, but I'm not getting anywhere.
